Week 3 update

It’s been an exciting month, seeing all these weeks of work start to payoff as the pieces of a new, small business continue to come together. Each day new folks are checking in –  having heard of SRA through a friend, the storefront or social media. And we are beginning to look forward to some of our new “regulars” that swing in just to say hi.

I’ve also enjoyed getting back into some of my familiar, old favorites and meeting people who share those interests as well.  While all sorts of new, “regular stocking inventory” arrives weekly, watch for more special interest items to arrive with increasing frequency. Things like a full range of Benelli shotguns (from tactical to competition and sporting variants), additional H&K items from yesteryear such as more P7 series pistols, classically cool Smiths (at least to me) including the big 3rd gen autoloaders in .45 and 10mm, as well as full under lug 629s. Competition long slides and the supporting targets, belts, holsters, timers and gear to let people experience a whole new level of recreational firearm use. Action pistol competitive shooting will forever change the way you think about range time. Of course, there will be Browning Hi Powers of different vintages, styles and colors. And what gunshop is complete without a falling block 45/70?

We appreciate everyone’s positive comments and product suggestions. We’ve already moved swiftly to stock some of the things we initially missed, but our customers need such as .17HMR and fuel for the 5.7x28mm FNs. Thanks for your input, and look for some additional information coming soon about our October get-to-know-us event, a micro 9 review and whether the ‘Wall of Fun’ would look better with a new AUG…

Inventory Stocked and Doors are Open

We started this journey about four months ago. Well, to be honest – it’s been years in the making, and here we are. Saddle Rock Armory opened for business on August 29, 2015 to friends and immediate family. We’ve also enjoyed local law enforcement stopping in, as well as our work family. The opening weekend brought visitors from the North Austin and Round Rock areas, and we are excited to serve even more folks in our surrounding neighborhoods.

Opening a gun shop for us was a surprise to many. The surprise was not due to a lack of firearm knowledge or interest in competitive shooting, but because we both have day jobs. Many wondered where we’d find the time while working full time, family, flying and everything else that life sends to us all. This consideration is our very mission. We want to be a gun shop for the working professional; those who can’t get away during the normal 9-5. Our hours seem unusual until viewed through that lens – see more in the About Us section or stop on by on your way home from work!.

Inline with this desire to serve the working professional, we will have a strong online presence with detailed listings of our firearm inventory – both new and used. This way a quick check of  our mobile friendly site can secure your item for pick up later. We will also feature reviews of our new arrivals and for events that we attend or host. You too, can submit product reviews or requests for reviews through the Contact Us form.

Thanks to those who made this past weekend a memorable first chapter in what we hope to be a long and interesting book.
